My favorite place would be the village where I’m from. It’s called Adabebe. I only get to go there once a year because I live in a city far away from it. My whole family usually goes back there at Christmas, and to me it’s the best time of the year. I look forward to this time all year. When we go back home for Christmas, I get to see a lot of my cousins I never see because they live so far away. Almost everyone in my family comes back for Christmas, so it’s like a big family reunion.
I get to hang out with my cousins, which is always a lot of fun. There is no restriction to what we can get into, plus it seems that every time I go back there is a new cousin. I get to take care of a baby Ngini for a while, and while caring for small children can be frustrating at times, in the end, you feel fulfilled.
Another reason I love going home is because it is so quiet there. Back there, everyone lives a simple, rural life. There are no highways or freeways. You can safely leave your door open because you are surrounded by people you can trust: you are surrounded by family. My best time of the day is early in the morning, when you just wake up and all you hear is silence, punctuated by the crows of cocks. There are no cars, no factories. Everything is pure. I wish I could stay there all through the year.
Obi, that is similar to what I imagine heaven to be like.
ReplyDeleteI've always been somewhat envious of the less hectic, village lives like that.
ReplyDeleteI like quiet places too. I got to think and figure out things in quiet places.
